Creative Aging Maine is a state-wide initiative connecting certified Teaching Artists to local community anchors (Community Host Sites) to bring impactful art programming to older adults.

Community Host Sites are a vital part of this programming; providing a welcoming local space for art classes and promoting them to older adults in their community. Staff at Community Host Sites are invited to join a training offered by the Maine Council on Aging.

Opportunities for Community Host Sites:

• Professional development to better understand ageism and the power of age-positivity in your work
• Bring art classes to older adults in your community – fostering purpose, connection and lifelong learning
• Directory listing on the Creative Aging Maine website, increasing visibility of your site and collaboration with certified Teaching Artists across Maine.

Important Dates:

• July 1, 2026 – Registration opens for MCOA Training. Apply early as spots are limited!
• August 5, 2026 – optional Information Session
• September 8, 2026 – Applications close for trainings.
• November 11th and 17th, 2026 – MCOA Training (Virtual option)
• December 2026 – March 2027 – Creative Aging Maine Teaching Artists apply for grants for programming.
• March 2027 – March 2028 – Teaching Artists and Community Host Sites plan, promote and deliver art classes!
